Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Rapperswil Transfer from the airport to Rapperswil for those coming by air, welcome, introductions and selection of bikes. Time to visit the castle and promenade through the town.
Day 2: Around Upper Lake Zurich Tour around the Obersee. Tour around the lake by a smooth and leveled path 35km/22 miles long that will enable you to get acquainted with each other and with the cycling ways in Switzerland. You can make several stops to look at the beauty of the lake, swim, have lunch at a park and visit the attractive villages you will be going through. The evening will be free to visit the town of Rapperswil.
Day 3: On the Jacob's Way This route will be 40km/25 miles long. Cover the distance to Einsiedeln, the Swiss St. Jacob's Way of Catholic pilgrimage with its imposing Basilica. Lunching at the village and return through Richterswil, always with the lake in view.
Day 4: Rhine Waterfalls Route By van, leave for Winterthur, starting a 40km/25-mile ride through the vineyards and the Rhine fields. When arriving at Rheinau, lunch close to the monastery on the banks of the Rhine, leaving afterwards towards the Rhine falls. This is a spectacular and breathtaking spot in Europe. Visit Schaffhausen, a delightful and unique village that seems to have come out of a story book, to continue at leisure by the river banks until Diessenhofen and Stein am Rhein. Return to Rapperswill by van.
Day 5: Lake Walensee Route Travel by van towards this lake. Cycle through Weesen and border the lake through lovely paths, hanging over the cliffs of the lake until Mühlehorn, where you will be heading towards Quinten, a lovely village with a Mediterranean microclimate. This is a perfect place to stop and relax, have a snack or swim. From there, return by boat to the other shore. Then, ascending towards Kerenzerberg, either by bike or by the van depending of your forces, to profit from the lovely view of the Walensee valley, from there we can make a delightsome descent towards Mollis. The return will be by van to Rapperswil. The most daring can do it by bike following the path by the Linth Canal.
Day 6: Lucerne Pilatus Excursion by van to Lucerne and Mount Pilatus. The start will be an early one towards Lucerne to take there the steepest cable way in Europe to Mount Pilatus, from there one can contemplate one of the most fascinating sights of the Alps. Stop in Lucerne, a magnificently conserved mediaeval town, visiting its wooden bridge and its squares to continue bordering the four lakes until Brunnen and Schwyz, the cradle of the Swiss Confederation, that gave its name to Switzerland. On the way back, stop at Zug, another beautiful mediaeval town fantastically conserved.
Day 7: End of Trip Depending on the time left, you can take a ride by the lake of Zurich. Transfer to the airport and farewell.
