Overview
Welcome to bike touring, Easy Rider style! With four different itineraries on the “Emerald Isle” and ten in Portugal and Spain, Easy Rider Tours continues to be the leading American cycle touring specialist in Ireland and the Iberian Peninsula. Trips in maritime Canada and the Berkshires, backed by over 20 years of experience, have become classic North American favorites. Whether in Portugal or PEI, Nova Scotia or New England, each of Easy Rider’s 17 itineraries is a carefully crafted celebration of the people, traditions, and landscapes which make a place unique.
Take the Roads Less Traveled “The routes took you into the heart of the country, where there was more to see in a day than one normally sees in a lifetime.”
On off-the-beaten-path routes, you’ll travel back roads and byways you might never have discovered on your own. Each road biked has been carefully chosen for its regional “flavor”, scenic beauty, and low traffic. Cycling days average 30 to 40 miles, and most days offer a choice of longer options as well. Club Series tours for experienced cyclists average 50 to 70 miles of biking per day. With detailed maps and written directions, cyclists are completely free to pedal at their own pace. Shorter riding days or layover days are planned for those destinations where you’ll want extra time off your bike to explore.
See the Sights “Your trips are designed for people who want to experience a place, rather than simply pass through it.”
Every Easy Rider itinerary is designed to give you a real sense of place. Age-old traditions come to life as you bike through Portugal’s wine country during the grape harvest or mingle with the locals at the Fiesta de los Patios in Córdoba. You’ll climb the 600 steps of Skellig Michael in County Kerry, and hark back to simpler times at Hancock Shaker Village in the Berkshires. A flamenco performance in Granada, a schooner cruise in Nova Scotia, and a spirited music seisiun in an Irish pub are all part of your Easy Rider vacation.
Sleep in Style “We stayed at amazing places we couldn’t have found on our own.”
Lodgings are chosen not only for their number of stars or mentions in guidebooks (many aren’t!), but also because they capture the authenticity, history, and character of the places visited. Often, guests stay in one-of-a-kind manor houses, castles, and country inns that are just large enough to accommodate Easy Rider’s groups. Whether you find yourself enjoying warm Irish hospitality in a cozy country B&B or surrounded by Spanish splendor at the magnificent Parador in Santiago, your day will always end with a gracious combination of Old World charm and modern comfort.
Think Globally, Eat Locally “We ate like royalty the entire trip!”
Experienced travelers know that one of the most enjoyable ways to get to know a country is through its food! Celebrate each day’s adventures with the very best of regional cuisine, from freshly caught Irish salmon or Nova Scotian lobster to an Azorean cozido cooked in a volcanic steam vent. Easy Rider’s restaurant selection includes an eclectic mix of well-known establishments as well as a few of their own serendipitous discoveries.
You’ll also enjoy home-cooked feasts at several inns, gourmet picnic lunches, and substantial breakfasts each morning.
Take a Break “I loved that there were always options that allowed me to cycle just the amount I wanted.”
A support van accompanies each tour to carry luggage and offer mechanical assistance, water, and snacks. Van support means you’re never pressured to ride any more than you want — Easy Rider is always available to give you a lift.
