Day 1: Arrival. Arrival at Prague on a Friday or Saturday. Day 2: Prague This day is entirely devoted to explore the Golden City of Prague. Visit Hradschin the old King’s Palace, stroll over the famous bridge Karlsbrücke, or discover the nightlife of Prague with innumerable cultural events. Day 3: Prague to Melnik (35 miles/55 km) Today, cycle along the river Moldau. A few climbs today with lovely fast descents. Admire the mouth of Moldau and Elbe from the palace hill of Melnik, the heart of the Bohemian wine growing area. Day 4: Melnik to Leitmeritz (25 miles/45 km) Today Via Roudnice you will reach the fortress Terezin. From Terezin, only a few kilometers have to be covered to reach the destination of today - Litomerice -with its beautiful houses. Day 5: Leitmeritz to Decin (30 miles/50 km) After only about 25km you reach the city Usti nad Labem. On the way you can admire the ruins of the old fortress Schreckenstein (literally meaning “horror-castle”), situated on the right bank on top of a 100-meter-high steep rock. In the afternoon you reach Decin. Day 6: Decin to Bad Schandau (13 miles/21km) Today you cross the frontier to Germany and soon you see the first rocks of the Elbe sandstone massive. Not far now and you reach the health spa, Bad Schandau. Day 7: Bad Schandau to Dresden (24 miles/43km) Cycle past bizarre rock formations on the Elbe, which flows past the fortress Königstein (Kingstone). Visit Europe’s biggest fortification and enjoy the spectacular view on the Elbe valley. Past castle Pillnitz you cycle on to Dresden. Day 8: End of Trip Individual departure after breakfast. |
