Day 1: Individual Journey to Koblenz Arrival to Koblenz and embarkation, enjoy a cordial welcome by the crew. Day 2: Koblenz - Moselkern - Beilstein, Cycle Tour Approximately 28 Miles/45 km The boat brings you to Alken. Here, mount your bicycles and cycle to Moselkern. A short detour into Elztal and a hike up to fortress Eltz. Then, join the boat again at Beilstein. Day 3: Beilstein - Cochem - Traben - Trarbach - Bernkastel - Kues The boat transports you to Bullay, cycle via Zell on Moselle and Traben-Trarbach, center of art-nouveau, to Bernkastel-Kues: the quaint half-timbered houses gathering around the market square belong to the most beautiful of the region. Day 4: Bernkastel - Kues - Mehring - Trier/Konz, Cycle Tour Approximately 28 Miles Cycle to Neumagen-Dhron, the oldest wine-growing town of Germany. In Mehring the boat joins you again and you chug along to Trier/Konz. A few relaxed cycle kilometers into Trier, well known for the Porta Nigra – a city gate of gargantuan size. Another point of interest well worth visiting is an old agricultural Benedictine monastery, Roscheider Hof, nowadays an open air museum. Day 5: Trier/Konz – Grevenmacher - Saarburg, Cycle Tour Approximately 25-30 Miles Today, cross the border to Luxemburg. Cycle to Wasserbillig and take the ferry across the river via little town Grevenmacher to Konz and then along river Saar to Saarburg, appropriately named “Little Venice”. Day 6: Saarburg – Saar River Bend - Merzig, Cycle Tour Approximately 22 Miles Enjoy marvelous views of fortress Saarburg across the valley and the town. About 15 km along the river gets you to famous Saar-river bend where you continue to Merzig. Day 7: Merzig - Saarbrücken, Cycle Tour Approximately 30 Miles Visit world heritage site of Völklinger hut. Then, reach Saarbrücken. Follow the footsteps of baroque architect Friedrich Joachim Stengel and discover the most beautiful places of Saarbrucken. Day 8: Individual Departure Tour completed, disembarkation after breakfast. |
