Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Schagen Car parking is free for those who will arrive by car. There are direct trains from Amsterdam-airport to Schagen. Day 2: Free day in Schagen If you can’t wait, you can go for a cycle tour through the colorful flower fields immediately. You can also choose to ride in the widest and highest dune area of the Netherlands, straight through National Park De Schoorlse Duinen. Day 3: Schagen – Enkhuizen 34 miles 55km On your way to one of the oldest and picturesque villages of the Netherlands, Enkhuizen, you will find age-old farmhouses in the open countryside. This is Europe’s largest bulb area: every season of the year you will be surrounded by different types of colorful flowers. Day 4: Enkhuizen – Oudemirdum 41 miles 67km First you will cross the IJssel Lake by ferry. From the picturesque harbour of Stavoren you’ll take course for Oudemirdum. The many blue lakes are surrounded by green meadows with black-and-white cows. It feels like cycling through a Dutch postcard!
Day 5: Free day in Oudemirdum As Hooked on Cycling has booked a room with a garden for you, it becomes easy to relax. There’s more than one choice in cycle tours today. Day 6: Oudemirdum – Edam 35 miles 55km Today you will cross the IJssel Lake once again. From Enkhuizen the tour goes south over a beautiful dyke with great views on the green polder as well as the blue lake. In Edam your hotel is close to the cheese-market, where you can buy the world-famous Edammer-cheese. If you are planning to visit Amsterdam, an extra night in Edam is recommended. Day 7: Edam – Schagen 42 miles 68km Cycling over narrow dykes, you will have a great view on many Old Dutch mills. Close to Opmeer you will enter the blooming bulb fields once again. Back in Schagen you can enjoy dinner in one of the many restaurants at the historical cheese-market. Day 8: Departure Your departure by plane must be after 10am |
