Notes
Travelers are requested to bring their own bike, helmet, and tool pouch with spares. This is the best way to ensure you are comfortable with the bike you travel on. Intrepid recommends a 'mountain' or 'hybrid' style bike with plenty of gear selections for easy cruising. Please contact them if you have any questions about the suitability of your bike. Your preferred airline should have no problem carrying your bike to Vietnam. Contact them before departing to discuss their arrangements for transporting bikes. A well padded bike box obtainable from a bike shop is usually the best method of plane transportation. It is recommended that you accompany your bicycle on the flight. Unaccompanied bicycles have been known to spend some extra days in the hands of customs authorities.
For Vietnam there is also opportunity for you to rent a bike from a local operator in Hanoi. Your Group Leader will help you to organize this. Please tell your agent at the time of booking and inform them of your height so that the best possible bike can be organized for you. The cost will be USD $150 for the whole trip and this includes the relocation of the bike back to Hanoi at the end of the trip. This is to be paid to your Group Leader with your Local Payment.
