Overview

Bienvenidos!
Old Town Outfitters is an adventure travel company located in the Spanish colonial town of La Antigua, an oasis found in the heart of the Guatemalan Highlands. They offer many ways for you to enjoy this beautiful country including mountain bike tours, sea kayaking trips, trekking expeditions, volcano climbs and rock climbing tours.

Mountain Biking
When the man upstairs designed Guatemala, he had mountain biking on his mind. Guatemala is a mountain biker's paradise. The country is crisscrossed with single track, jeep tracks, and dirt roads that are absolutely perfect for mountain biking. The Antigua Valley alone has hundreds of miles of trails to ride, simply more mountain bike tours than Old Town Outfitters could ever list or catalogue.

Whether you enjoy riding that twisty piece of technical single track heaven, grinding up big climbs, bombing down steep descents, or rolling a long jeep track cruiser, Guatemala has the terrain and mountain bike tour for you! Old Town Outfitters specializes in single track rides but have tours for all skill levels and can customize any ride to meet your interest.

Hiking/Trekking
Located in the Valley of Panchoy, Antigua, Guatemala is ringed with three massive volcanoes that lift to nearly 14,000 feet. Named for the elements of nature that are part of the legends of these volcanoes, Agua (water) and Fuego (fire) are accessible ascents for novice and advanced hikers. Old Town offers one-day excursions to Acatenango and Pacaya volcanoes, as well as overnight trips that bag the twin peaks of Acatenango and Fuego (please contact the shop about the conditions of Fuego as this volcano awoke from a 20-year dormancy in 1999).

A largely agricultural country, Guatemala is absolutely covered in footpaths. Hikes and treks retrace the ancient Mayan trails and trade routes that crisscross the Highlands. Whether you are looking for a half-day hike or a multi-day backpacking style trek, Old Town Outfitters has found amazing routes that link remote Mayan pueblos of Guatemala. The options are limitless so talk to Old Town's staff to find a hike that suits you!

Old Town Outfitters will lead expeditions to any peak in Guatemala, or can provide logistical support for those groups seeking to climb volcanoes apart from those listed here.

Kayaking
Some of the most incredible flat water kayaking adventures can be found in Guatemala. Whether paddling through rich rainforests along the Rio Dulce to the Carribean coast, or sea kayaking through intricate mazes of mangroves near the Pacific coast surrounded by birdlife, or kayaking on the grandeur waters of a volcano encircled mile high lake, you will enjoy dipping your paddle in the beautiful waters of Guatemala.

Rock Climbing
Rock climbing in Guatemala is a unique chance to explore virtually virgin climbing spots. Professional guides lead climbing trips to every corner of Guatemala in search of the country's best rock climbing. Whether you are a seasoned sport climber or just learning to climb on a top rope, Old Town Outfitters will show you the way. The volcanic lands of Guatemala have produced some incredible locations in which to get vertical. Between the solid walls of volcanic basalt or the bumpy face of volcanic breccia, the rocks here are awesome to climb. When you combine this with Pacific facing forest slopes and beautiful lake overlooks, you have a recipe for some unforgettable climbs.
