Arizona Bike Tour

This active vacation in the Sonoran Desert is set amidst an incredible array of scenery. Bike and hike past stands of giant saguaro cacti in Saguaro National Park and Sabino Canyon. Marvel at red rock canyons and expansive vistas. A horseback ride through the dramatic landscape provides another intimate perspective on the desert.

Cycle to the renowned Arizona Sonoran Desert Museum. Walk the trails through the living collections and gardens of this fascinating and beautiful natural setting. Bike to a small artist enclave during the midst of a glorious day of cycling highlighted by towering red rock mountains and sweeping vistas.

Stays at two historic guest ranches enhance your active vacation with their casually elegant atmosphere. Join wranglers for horseback rides through the desert and enjoy guided hikes along one of the many trails lacing the property. One of the properties dates back to the 17th century and its hacienda is one of the oldest buildings in Arizona. The dining room of the other among the finest in Arizona.

Visit a popular southwestern artist colony, and shop for authentic local crafts, jewelry and art. Enjoy an exhilarating morning bike ride through the Coronado National Forest to the Smithsonian's Fred Lawrence Whipple Observatory Visitor Center. The views over the valley from this vantage point are breathtaking.

This region of Arizona is considered one of the top birding destinations in the world and rare species are often observed during migration to and from South America. The early morning hours offer prime opportunities for spotting unusual resident as well as migratory species.

Evenings are a special time in the desert as sunsets cast orange hues over the vast skyline. What better way to end a day of bike touring than by welcoming nightfall and its brilliant display of stars.

The winter months in southern Arizona provide perfect bike tour weather with daytime temperatures typically in the mid 60s to low 70s. Join Sojourn for this most memorable and unique active vacation in the beautiful Sonoran Desert.
